The Emergency Assistance Center for Chinese International Students was formally established on September 9, 2011. Its purpose is to provide timely financial assistance and other assistance when the majority of Chinese students studying in Melbourne encounter emergent difficulties. The Emergency Assistance Center is composed of 7-10 directors. The members of the board are enthusiastic volunteers from major universities in Melbourne, the Chinese community and the society. The center has established a love aid team, a minister of outreach, a minister of media, a minister of consultation and a minister of propaganda. Mr. Jin Kaiping, the overseas member of the Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the vice chairman of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and the chairman of the Australia-China Group Board of Directors, serve as the director of the center.
